putting my 59 minor 1000 together, and I have one easy question.
what is this thing? It looks like a bunch of wires go to it, but I can't find it on my wiring diagram. I might be using the wrong diagram, or this could be off of a different car (I have a lot of parts from different cars).
Also, on the right hand side of the car, in the engine compartment, there are about 20 wire endings, but I don't know what they go to. I have everything except the horns and headlights wired, so I don't know what these go to. Possibly the thingamabob pictured.[frame]Image[/frame]

The pictured part is the voltage regulator and yes there will be a wire for most every terminal. There should be plenty of wiring diagrams in the electrical section of the website. I live in Arizona. If you need anything give me a call.

As before its a relay that makes the brake lights flash for an indicator. Its quite a complicated thing! When you brake and indicate at the same time it will keep a brake light on while still flashing the other side. It was fitted as standard to UK market cars from late 1961 after the trafficators were removed so you should find it on a wiring diagram for 61 cars onwards.

I have a diagram showing the wiring for that relay. PM me with your email address if you want a copy.

If you have a lot of loose wires maybe the regulator and/or fuse box are not connected or are missing. The photo is the indicator relay. You need a wiring diagram, get the lights or horn wrong and you can get lots of sparks!!!!!

It is certainly not the voltage regulator - as others have described, it IS the unit to control the brake lights and the indicators.
