Just thought I would share my morning with you all to cheer you up if you have the New Year blues!
My Morris 1000 lost front and back side lights, number plate light and panel light.
As I use the Morris daily in all weather day or night I thought I had better fix it this morning.
Later Minors have an in line fuse fitted into the wiring loom just below the fuse box and I was confident that all I needed to do was change the fuse as that fuse protects the lights I'd lost. I removed the fuse and my meter told me it was fine. I then started to take all the lights out for a clean a nd to check earth's, all seemed ok but still no lights. I checked earth strap on the gearbox. Again OK but no lights. I then then took gloveboxes out to check the switch, and you've guessed, all seemed OK but no lights.
The fix ,after all that work turned out to be a simple 2 minute job.
I went back to the fuse and found the spring and contact on the holder itself were not there and a previous owner had bodged it by sticking tin foil up to make contact with the fuse. I had a spare online holder from an old radio, a couple of spade terminals crimped on and I replaced the fuse holder and got my lights back
