Depends who's name the account was in.
Also do you have a signed paying in book so to speak and a signed contract?
Similar things have happened with supposed lottery syndicates that never legally existed.
I'd go around with a bat.

Too messy, poss fatal.
Pliers with several layers of insulation tape round the jaws much more
effective.

Hopefully the new cheque will clear but if it bounces then chances are that other people's did too. Find out how many other people at work were affected and see what explanation is provided. If it is definitely theft, rather than some other explanation, and you have proof to show how much you have paid in, then go to the Police and report it. I imagine that the Post Office won't be too happy about it either, so let your manager know what has happened too.
Happy Christmas to you & Hazel (hope this doesn't put too much of a damper on things).

Inform the employer and demand cash off the collector if he refuses inform the police straight away before he covers his tracks.I think it is disgusting that someone could do this and the cheque bouncing probably means no funds

And learn the lesson....what's the point of a Christmas Club??? Just put the cash away yourself each week/month....you know where it is then.

You raise a good point, make use of that Christmas sweet tin! I've heard of these cons before though, cut out the middle man, no one looks after his/her money like the owner. Sorry of course for dale, hope it gets sorted.

If that second cheque bounces, tell your boss to phone Mr Plod. If he won't do it, do it yourself. Someone that systematically nicks from their workmates is the lowest of the low.

Aren't there fees and charges involved with bouncing cheques these days?

Dale you need to get the police involved and do it legally as its obvious there are no funds and you probably aren't the only one to get ripped off

You need to inform your Manager where you work as well and find out how many more colleagues have been affected. Have you actually spoken to the person who was running the Christmas Club?
