Dear all,
i have recently purchased a morris (austin?) pickup from the wonderful land of ebay and have only got the body number from a plate in the engine bay and only know that it is a H reg. Does anybody know how to relate this to the chassis number? Any information would be extremely helpful as i'm a 16 year old and this is my first time restoring a pickup and im hoping to make a good job of it

PM (private message) poster "POMMReg" Chris will be able to help you. He is collating all chassis/body numbers for reference perhaps future book. Did you get the registration documents with the vehicle?

Buying vehicles minus V5/rf60 docs seems to be legit apparently(?).
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Collect chassis/cab number combinations from other Minor's, which allows
me to assist owners when faced with this type of problem.
If you can get the first 3 digits of the chassis number, makes it a whole lot
easier for DVLA providing the vehicle is/was on their Database.
Therefore, the more numbers I have, the more accurate I can be!
A cab number in the hand is worth 2 golden geese in a bush!

I was saying, what else can you do with a vehicle with no v5, if you can not sell it. As you implied ?

Re: H reg morris (austin?) pickup
Push comes to shove, DVLA will issue a modern VIN.
If NO registration/chassis nor cab number, DVLA will issue
a VIN and an age related registration.
If you have no documents nor a leg, you will fall over.

Buying without v5 could be looked upon as buy a load of spares----just put together to form a vehicle.

Yes, it happens.
Better than scrapping the vehicle.
