Engine number ID
Hi, I've just picked up a secondhand engine to swap for the worn out one in my sons car, its number is 10MA-U-H221742 can anyone tell me what the U stands for please…. I think I'm right in i.d'ing it as from a 1098 series 5 ?? But i'm not sure what the rest means… Thanks

U = Centre change

Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Yes.
BMC also produced one with the gear lever on the roof to
allow pygmy Giraffes to see whilst changing gear with their
mouths,However,following a major RTA involving two drunk
Rhino's in a stolen Land Rover, this optional extra was
abandoned.
