does anybody live near Halifax?? I need help!

Post by GuidoDieringer »

Hello everybody!
There is a "Classic Car Center" west from Halifax.
They sell a Traveller, and I'm interessted in !!
Unfortunately I come from Southern Germany.

Is anybody able to have a look on the car?
They do have 2 or 3 Travellers for sale form 6500 to nearly 10000 GBP.
I have very good pictures from the cars, but I'm absolutely not sure about them.
There is a lot of ugly black coating underneath, and it's not easy to figure out anything.
It looks like smeared on rust??
The car is advertised on Ebay as well:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/1961-Morris-Mino ... 27dbcf29f5

Is anybody near Halifax to help me??

Thank you very much.

Guido

Looks tidy enough in the ebay pictures -although does appear that the black stuff has been dislodged from the right hand front chassis leg by the jack pad - revealing rust underneath. They are very coy with the registration number - looks like it maybe a 3 + 3 + 1 reg number - not correct for that age of vehicle?? The front side lights are later type - and the rear lights are later pattern too. Possibly done to allow flashing indicators to be fitted. The gearbox is the later ribbed case 1098 type, and indeed they say the engine is 1098 capacity. The rocker cover is not correct - it has no breather (note the open connection on the air cleaner) and so the engine WILL leak oil. The battery is mounted wrong way round and the clamp is not fitted correctly (probably because the battery is wrong way..) - oh and ask them to fit an oil filter before they start the engine.......
And when asked - they refuse to reveal the Reg number - so personally I would treat this with deep suspicion. I do wonder if there this is reason the car is being advertised overseas......

My bet is on an A suffix (i.e. original number sold) - this won't matter to Guido if he is taking it out of the country .
