Morris Minor values: An investment?

Earlier on I was just browsing on eBay looking at the values of classic cars and what some make. Obviously pretty much all classics will go up in value eventually, but with regards to moggies, just how much will they go up to? There was so many of them made that will they be like Minis, Beetles or MGBs and just stay relatively low (i.e under 8000 for a really nice example) due to the massive enthusiast following, readily available parts and such high numbers of them still around? I can't see them ever going MK1 escort and rocketing massively in value all of a sudden above other cars, but how long do you think it would be before a car you say bought for £2000 double in value?

Don't ever think of a Minor as a money making investment. But it's fair to say if you buy a decent one at a 'good' price - and look after it and maintain it regularly, with only moderate use - then it will HOLD it's value, so there should be no depreciation - which is by far the biggest expense of owning a modern car (except for fuel of course - which applies to all cars).

Mk1 escorts had boy racer yob status, and a reputable rally pedigree, making them an object of desire,for all those to young or poor to own one .
Cortina's were good for banger racing , making them scarce.
Minors are renowned for being driven by district nurses, and funny smelling professor types wearing dear stalkers .
That and the sheer abundance means that their value increase's at a near trundle .
It's supply and demand, loads of em , and the kids like beetle's.
That's why the more roof chopping and customizing the better . This would make the kids want them , and the originals go up in value.
I think its funny that an old ford from the70s is worth more than a rolls Royce of the same age .

Very true. I think it is also worth remembering what a massive impact the media has on classic car values as well. Cortinas in Life on Mars, Quattros in Ashes to Ashes, 105e Anglias in Harry Potter even; these mainstream appearances undoubtedly helped these cars' values rise too.
