It is estimated that motorists will be £20 million a year better off thanks to the move
Really, do people get a taxi to the post office or something?

Well, I'm certainly not going to get excited about THAT particular life-changing event. It makes me wonder if there was any point at all in getting my really nice Barnacle tax disc holder to put in my Traveller upon completion of restoration!!
Meanwhile it's great to see that the Daily Mirror's standards of journalism mirror ( sorry!) the general decline in the literacy/numeracy as we slip and slide our way down the world's league tables, mentioning the words "disc" and "disk" (why do we have to import every Americanism into this country?........no offence to our American members or Americans in general!) within five lines of each other, and talking about Queen Victoria being on the "thrown" in 1888!
Shudder!

Seems like a good time to get one of those 'period' tax discs. I rather like the idea of driving about displaying a tax disc that is 47 years out of date without a current one sitting next to it.

I'm sure there's going to be problems with this brilliant bit of "progress". Like SORNs having to be renewed, you can guess that non-disc-free-tax-statuses will have to be renewed. So you go to buy a car, the vendor says it has a "virtual disc", off you drive with a smile from ear to ear in your new moggy, Mr Plod tucks in behind you in his camera-equipped superchasermobile, blues and twos and you grind to a halt to be told by Mr Plod that there IS no "virtual Disc" and as the owner, you are responsible and that will be £80 fixed penalty please, thankyou, Merry Christmas, Sir, have a nice day!
Am I getting too cynical in my old age?

Oh, and by the way, there very nearly WAS no more MoT paper. It was only representations from MoT stations and the Post Office that persuaded DVLA that paper MoTs were still neccessary!

And once again where is the consideration towards people who have no internet access, are they not meant to be able to live. No doubt there will be a call to cull them inorder to dispose of this problem!

All they need to do is release an ANPR app for the likes of us to use.

Ha! Love it!
Tv scrolling banners with place names and peoples names with lower case first letters. Most of the caracters on who speak defending themselves are guilty by thier own addmission they always say " I ain't done nothing" which obviously means they must have done something... with me so far? That usually stemms from over the pond

Apparently the vehicle recognition camera thing in the police cars cant read the black and white/silver number plates, should be fun when you get pulled in with no disc. 8)

You are perfectly correct
I had major problems booking into a travelodge motel as the camera didn't register my black and white plate so the concierge manually typed it in and the computer refused to accept it , I was then told if I get a fine from the parking company,it was a shared car park, I was to phone the hotel and they would TRY and sort it out their end hassle hassle because of a computer software fault but we enjoyed our stay and the National rally in June

especially in a MOT exempt car and as for seeing if you have insurance, it will either be a nightmare if you get a jobsworth police officer or they may just ignore it as it will require more paperwork than they are prepared to do.
