Wolseley brakes,what parts fit?

I have acquired a set of Wolseley 9" drums and backplates(2 sets actually and I will be offering one for sale on here soon).
The prices of Wolseley original parts are ridiculously expensive.
I have read that moggy wheel cylinders can be made to fit with modification to the backplate. What are these mods exactly and which cylinders?.
Also that TR7 rear brake shoes can be adapted to fit.Once again adapted in what way and which cylinders, there are different items for 4 and 5 speed TR7s?
What springs will be required?
Will standard hoses fit ok?
Any other tips/suggestions including part numbers if possible would be greatfully received.
TIA
Mick

Today came across an old invoice for Wolsely 1500 brake wheel cylinders (no part numbers quoted) and the following may be useful:-
Wolseley 1500 Spares
2 Purberry Grove
Ewell
Surrey
KT17 1LU

Thanks a lot Phil. The Wolseley Lockheed cylinders are £140 for four.I would never pay that.MM ones are far cheaper.

The part of the wheel cylinder which projects through the back plate is longer on the Minor cylinder so the slot in the Wolseley back plate needs to be extended. If Wolseley return springs are not available then 1098 springs can be fitted to the closest holes in the shoes. You will also need longer cylinder connecting pipes

You DON'T need longer connecting pipes - the 8" pipes fit perfectly well, as does the Minor flexi. And the adjusters, and the springs can be used too. If too tight - just drill new holes in the shoes. You need the brake shoes from a later TR7 - which has 9" rear brakes fitted (earlier cars only had 8" brakes

). And you will need to file the notch in them - where the adjuster sits on a Minor set-up, and 'possibly' shave off any excess friction material overhanging the sides of the metal shoes. Search ebay for them - prices vary....

Well done WIN! Did you need to shave the sides of the shoes at all? The set I dug out yesterday are a bit too wide - easily rectified though. I have another less wide set somewhere - just can't quite put my hands on them at the moment... Do you find the brakes a good improvement?

Thanks for that win and it wasn't too long a wait as I still haven't got round to fitting them yet although I plan to do so this coming week as I recently bought all new cylinders, springs, pipes and sundries for them.
Thanks
Mick

That's what it says on WIN's shoes too! Unfortunately no 'cheap' ones on ebay at the moment.... And he has the springs in the correct holes.

Hi All
I had to remove approximately 2mm from the sides, and remove some the shoe its self, with a file to fit the adjuster.
As regard the value of the upgrade, I removed the original 7" to fit the 9", no servo, cost I think, about £5,
20 odd years ago.
You have to watch the price for replacement shoes, still some deals around, if you can wait.
The results were awesome.

A very good investment!

Just look at this - extortion!!
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WOLSELEY-1500 ... 43c7ad91bc and these -even more expensive..... Fortunately they last a very long time !
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1958-65-Wolse ... 338b789a24
And this for cylinders....."gasp"....when Minor cylinders can be fitted v easily......
