fitted a alternator kit in march, in august it stopped charging i was sent a replacement late september after car had been lay-ed up i re started car and within a very short time the alternator seized solid i was sent another replacement and this lasted about a day before it started to rattle like a bag of marbles, when i was removed the last one i noticed the fan belt was out of line so i checked the misalignment and it was 5mm, after consulting the supplier i was told that i would have to pack out the next alternator to make the 2 pulleys line up i was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem regarding alignment problems as the supplier said he has sold over 200 alternator kit without a complaint.

You will notice, that the dynamo top dynamo fixing, bolts behind the water pump, whereas the alternator bolts in front, copying the dynamo will give a misalignment, although the difference would be more than 5mm if this was the case.

You always need to carefully line up the pulleys....... I can't imagine anyone not doing so!
