manx minors

I bought my minor (mona) about 5 years ago and got the engine running again last weekend. on fireing her up (bearing in mind ive not driven her or set her up properly) she sounds to me like she has some fire in her belly. I know that she was bought by an old lady and then a police officer bought mona off her then a friend of mine and then me, so my reconing is that the police officer had some fun under the bonnet. does any one know where i might find a list of minors that were used in amateur competition as she sounds and behaves like an engine set up for hill climbs.
i have had a little play (port reprofiling, mini carb etc) externally though she is stock, i beleve that a more aggressive cam lurks in there allong with a skimmet head.

What makes you draw that conclusion as its unlikely with a standard 1098cc, especially as you have changed the carb and dont the port work yourself.

My dad drove her back from the iom and remarked that "she had remarkably long legs" also the cam profile is a little more agressive and has slightly taller lobes (took me ages to measure that though.

Right so it might have been blueprinted and warmed up slighlty to give it a bit more ommph, surprised it still had the original carb in that case, but it sounds like it was done to make it perform a bit better, have the brakes been changed ?

stock stoppers, ive got a disc conversion sat waiting but i dont know if ill do enough milage to warrant it so i might go for the riley front setup instead
the front end has got mini telescopics and the rear has inclined shocks (not sure what from)
all the shocks are koni (non adjustable)
only person i think could have done the mods is the police man who had her before my friend who i bought her off.
suppose she might have had twin carbs or some other arangements.

Hello Ash,
you will probably find that the Koni's are adjustable, you need to dismount and totally compress the unit, then turn the top and hold the bottom. The difficulty is that you have no reference as to how much you are adjusting them.

Why not try to contact the police owner for the answer? Info available from dvla, or maybe your friend.

Have you applied to dvlc for a list of previous owners? It might cost you a fiver, it depends on how far you want to take your investigations!

Well they must be pretty rare or they would have their own register
