Rear lights?

Hi all I'm after changing my rear lights i have the big bulky late type , is it possible to change to the earlier ones? Also some earlier ones done seem to have indicators how do they get away with that ? Any help would be great

All cars are built to spec,in order to be legal ,you must check very carefully if it's ok to retro your lights,the cars without indicators didn't need them in the year they were built ,'cause the specs did not require the to be fitted .
A good example is pre '62 cars ,no seat belts required,post 62 seat belts must be fitted ,but you can not take the seat belts out of the latter cars and be legal .
