Quarter Light.

Hi, I bought a very presentable 1967 Trafalgar Blue Saloon this year with much work done and bits to do to finish. One problem the seller pointed out, (a really honest guy) was the quarter light levers which had sheared off. Is there a way to re-fit them or would I have to obtain a complete second hand unit complete with glass? If I used second hand units, are they easy to fit?
Thanks[frame]

yes the quarter light is easy to replace, unscrew the two plillips screws at the top pivot with window open and lift it upwards off its bottom pivot, two door saloons have a steel frame whereas travellers are stainless, so try to get them in stainless. Also i have welded them back on before but the glass and rubber seal will need to be removed to do this

They can be refitted but it involves removing the glass from the frame and in your case maybe welding/riveting another bracket for the pin since it appears to be broken.
Complete second hand units will probably be much easier to find and fit, even if you have to pay a bit more money.

I just received a new quarter light for my 67 Traveller and spent 3 hours trying to fit it on the car. The old one was duck soup to take off. I just unscrewed to the two very small phillips head screws and out it came. The new one would not fit in at all and I finally determined part of the problem. The vertical rubber seal was put in backwards by the prior owners (probably accounting for the broken lever) and would no let the window close. I trimmed off the offending part (to be replaced later) and tried to replace the light with the old bracket and screws. I did not happen. First off, the screws are so little it needs a surgeon to handle them and worst of all...the holes in the frame of the new window are misaligned so that only about 3/4 of the threaded receiving part is exposed.
I am going to try to drill out the access hole but, have little faith that it will work. I shall post later on the results.

I am happy to report that I got the window in place. I did drill out the frame to expose the entire threaded part and it took a couple of minutes to get it in. I apologize for the very bad photography but I cannot seem to get a close picture with and clarity. You can see, however, the poorly aligned frame holes.
While I was in a working mood, I removed the wood floor in the rear of the Traveller in preparation for repair of the inner wings (fenders in US)[frame]

Thanks to all who responded to my original post. I'm pleased to report the new (secondhand) Quarter Lights are now on the car (many thanks Bryan) and like Larryb I had alignment problems. However, a bit of "brute force" and a few swear words brought results!
