Where have all the sealed headlights gone?

My headlight died yesterday - and it seems that no one has the "old" sealed beam headlights now - so simple questions...
Do the halogen ones still have the 3 pin sealed unit fitting?
Should i swap both together, or is the light similar enough to the old bulbs to not be distracting to other drivers?
Or does an old non sealed unit have a 3 pin connector? I have some spare headlight bulbs from the non sealed units - but i'm guessing that would all be different connections?
cheers
mark

Sealed beam units are available from club spares:

If you're going to switch to halogen change both headlamps at the same time as they are quite a bit brighter than the sealed beam units so not advisable to drive with one halogen and one sealed beam.

I am a die-hard sealed beam enthusiast. Yes - I am. The trouble is, with old stock ones you can wire them up and the filament evaporates in a puff of smoke. For this reason, never pay more than a few quid for them.

My Trav still has sealed beam lights - and at 5am on a dark morning they are surprisingly effective. Perfectly adequate for the car performance. But since halogen conversions are not that expensive - I second the advice to not pay much for a sealed beam unit - I suggest anything more than £5 - better to upgrade to halogens. Yes - same connection.

No idea if this is a possibility in Britain, but my Mog is running sealed-beam halogen units, with a traditional three-pin fitting. They are modern productions, not NOS. Quite as bright as all the other cars on the road (except those ridiculous HID blue lights), plenty bright enough to see by, and they use about three amps apiece so don't break the battery bank.
I was surprised to discover they were halogens -- upon inspecting them one day, I looked up the product code on Sylvania's website, and they turned out to be halogen.

I got a pair of sealed beams last month from Mini spares off the shelf about £11 each brand new.
