About three years ago I installed an aftermarket alternator kit and it has run with no problems until now. Now the ignition light is on in the normal way prior to starting the engine, goes out at very low revs but then remains brightly lit throughout the rev range.
The fan belt seems fine, no loose connections - HELP

Check if it is actually charging - do you have an ammeter fitted? Or can you measure the battery voltage with headlights and heater fan running - and the engine at decent revs? Has any work been done to the car - just before this happened? And do urgently check the large cable connection to the alternator - has it perhaps come loose/broken off??

Its more than likely to be the internal regulator, easy diy fix, new one off ebay about £10 and if an ACR unit just take off the black cover and remove the old and fit the new <held with small screws, diodes need soldering in but can also be got for about the same mony.Have a look on U tube several clips of how to do it.
