Vin Plate

Hi,
I have a very corroded vin plate. Ideally I'd like to keep / clean it and re-apply a scanned transfer from an original (so the stamped numbers are original).
I've tried to buy one from ESM and Bull Motif to take a scan from, but neither stock it. Have I got the wrong plate on my car? [frame]

It's a chassis number plate - 'vin' hadn't been invented..... Looks right enough to me - just give it a rub with T cut - an 'original' is much more authentic than a copy - which would only set people wondering why it had been changed.

Do NOT use T-Cut, owt abrasive will take the blk paint off!
Dunk it in a pot of oil/WD40 for a week or so, clean & screw back on.
As Roy says,better to have a weather-beaten original than a new one!

I wasn't suggesting anything more than a light rub over with T cut......so if the WD40 doesn't make it......

Other alternative is protect/cover the black paint - several layers of
insulation tape etc, and use silvo sparingly on the bare alloy.
Roy, don't think a light rub over with T-Cut would work on women, perhaps
I should've tried it with my ex(?), as for WD40..no comment!!

how about stripping the whole lot so that there is no paint. Then spray the lot with black,then when dry put some fine wet and dry,on a flat block and gently draw the plate over it taking off the paint on the raised numbers. Thats probably how it was done in the factory
