Restoring a 1959 Morris. Need advice.

Post by Richard900 »

Hi.
I'm currently restoring a 1959 Morris minor.
The main thing that I would like to know is can I change the whole engine? I currently have a spare Mazda 121 5 speed engien.
I can put mountings in and everything if needed too :)
Cheers.

If the Mazda 121 is front wheel drive it would be a very big job.
Rear wheel drive and it should be possible, have a look at some other threads about fitting different engines.
One thing that can put a spanner in the works is clearance between the steering rack and the bell housing.

It certainly won't be a straight swop - quite the opposite... Anything is possible if you have the skills/welding and cutting equipment - but is the end result going to be worth it???
