Hi,
i've owned a few Morris Minors in the past, and have the opportunity to buy a 1952 model and because my models were a lot younger, i an wondering how spares anvailability is with these older models, especially mechanical parts and window rubbers.

Thanks,
Luc.

Spares are readily available - but 'rubbers' seem to be notorious for being poorly made/poor fit/leaking......

Yes there's some parts which are hard to get for the older cars, such as windscreen chrome trim, dashboard switches, front wheel cylinders, front bumper blade (diff hole spacing) etc, and if its a sidevalve (which a 52 could well be), some engine parts.
However thye're still better than many cars of that era and club spares have a lot of otherwise unobtainable parts and folk on here are also a good source (MM register section).
If it was me, I'd go for it - the early Minors have a charm all of their own and are well worth any slight inconveniences in pars sourcing.

Most parts are available and if the original is not immediately to hand then a later component may be often be fitted to keep the car on the road, such as later distributors, front brake assemblies, front swivel pins etc. As with all Minors it is the body condition which is important. They may not be the fastest Minors but the engine is smooth running, no timing chain rattle or first gear bag of spanners noises and the doors and bonnet close with a satisfying clunk, not the clang of a M1000. Go for it and let me know when you have bought it
