Aerial mounting point

Not sure if this is bodywork or electrical but, purely from a technical and aesthetic point of view (Ie ignoring originality), where is the best place to mount an aerial and can anyone recommend or warn me off of any particular makes of aerial please?

Do the short wound coil things work or are they gimmicks?

I can't get on with the stick on the window thing as it gives a noisy signal. I don't really want to drill any holes but I don't know if there's a solution that doesn't involve holes that works.

In case it's the same as CB radios, my wings are fibreglass so wouldn't provide a groundplain...

Thanks

I tried a stubby one on the top of the B-post. Don't do it, useless! Have now used roof mounted aerials from a Ford Mondeo on all the minors, mounted centrally above the windscreen. they look good (IMHO) and work perfectly. Just a slight hint of wind noise in some conditions, but more secure and robust than wind mounted.

I ran mine horizontally inside the rear bumper, no holes, works fine and totally invisible.
