Hello everyone hope your all doing well, I recently took ownership of my first morris minor 67 four door. I'm in the process of respraying, really want a custom colour iv seen but torn because I don't know how this will effect the resale value of the car, am I right in thinking that orginal colour would be worth more or desirable?

Not necessarily so if the "new" paint is well applied and the work finished to a good standard. After all it's your car. A "original" colour may appeal to future potential purchasers more, it just depends on how long you plan keeping the car.

Lou is right, as ever

but missed an important question. How standard is your car, or how standard do you intend to keep it? If it's exactly as it left the factory, a non-standard colour might well limit your market should you decide to sell. In fact not only that, but a standard colour that isn't the original standard colour might impact your sales market.
A lightly modified car, perhaps something with a 1275 lump, or disk brakes, that sort of thing is not as 'frowned on' as it used to be and many owners wouldn't turn their noses up at that level of mod, but would at a non-standard colour. If you have alloys, or are considering them, then really you've let the purists scream already so you may as well paint it unusually too.
At the end of the day, it's your car, and you should go with what you particularly like. There's nowhere close to the hangups there used to be over these things, and you'll find a welcome at club do's even if it's dayglo pink (well okay, maybe not dayglo pink but you get the idea). It's perfectly possible to go non-standard without being too wild - the Traveller in my signature is Bonatti Grey, a Land Rover colour (actually from the 'Tomb Raider' Defender), and even the purists reckon it's not too over the top for colour.
