Who makes the brakes?

Do Mintex still make the brakes which are dearer than "bog standard" ones? I have "fluttering" front brakes according to the MOT chap ,no failure ,just a comment.
Must ask him what he meant
Any ideas or clues

I had pulling and shuddering brake issues last year. I decided to fit new mintex shoes from ESM and I got my brake drums skimmed. It made a vast improvement and I feel they are worth the few extra pounds.

Just take the car out and give the brakes a good 'burn in' - usually helps.......

The last few sets I've had (rears) including Mintex all had an 'uneven' finish to the surface. Even after a years worth of braking there are highs and lows. I'm amazed they are able to balance. Is there a current make that has an even surface like say the old Ferodo riveted shoes? What are EBC shoes like?
