Hi all

I'm after a replacement oil pressure switch, mine has split and is now weeping. I have a 1957 car and it has a nut that screws on to hold the wire in place. All the new switches I have seen are the spade type, can you still get my type or am I going to have to get later type and cut my wire to put spade connector on?

I don't know if the early switches are available but it might be an opportunity to covert to a spade connector as the early switches will probably soon become hard to find, which indeed might be the case already.

If you really don't want to cut the harness - just solder a stud to a Lucar connector and use that to connect to a new switch - hide the connection with a bit of sleeving.

My traveller has a 1098 engine and when I bought a new wiring loom it came with the correct screw on terminal for the oil pressure rather than the lugar connector on the later one. I did buy a switch but found it difficult to fit as there was no room to get a spanner in with the shape of the 948 switch.

After some head scratching I drilled the hole in the middle of the new oil pressure switch out a little bit and was able to fit a small nut and bolt and use the proper fitting on the loom rather than cutting it off.

That's exactly like mine, but like you say.... Will it work?

I have just ordered a spade one from ESM, I've tried a spanner on it and there's not much room, I'll sure ill figure it out, it should be here Saturday along with my new hubcap
