Timing chain tensioner

Advice please I am in the process of fitting the new timing chain kit including a mini type tensioner, my question is how much tension/ pressure is put onto the tensioner blade to chain to start with .Is it pushed onto the chain or just lightly rested against it , I assume the chain when running will initially cut itself into the plastic blade to some extent
Any advice welcome

The timing chain tensioner should be adjusted to give a firm pressure on the timing chain but not be over tight (the locking bolt should be about 3/4 to 7/8 of the way across the adjustment slot but not up against the end of the slot (too tight)). Oil the plastic bearing face and timing chain before refitting the cover. The plastic bearing face will eventually wear but the spring will take up the slack. I have a duplex chain and timing chain tensioner on my engine and it works well.

Thanks for the advice I have already started the process by putting the new chain in a plastic container and covering it with new engine oil for a couple of days
