Help with tools

Hi there,
Trying to buy withwortah stuff in germany is a quite expensice experience.
As my wife will travel to cenral london next week: any idea where she could buy a tap and die set in ww sizes?

Whitworth taps and dies are common at flea markets over here and should only set you back a few quid.
I presume this is for something other than a Minor, as they used mostly AF sizes?

Gneral rule of thumb with Minors is that anything mechanical - engine, gearbox, axle etc is AF size and anything body related, ie suspension, doors, wings etc is BSF (British Standard fine) which is the fine thread version of Whitworth. Offhand I can't think of any actual Whitworth threads on Minors, though both Whit. and BSF use the same spanners etc.

And don't forget that the drain plugs in the back axle, gearbox and sump are BSPT (British Standard Pipe Tapered) as used by plumbers. Regards, Mike Nash.
