Hi,
I have fitted a five speed no 9 gearbox to a lcv 1098 engine in my minor pickup.I am using a set of morris marina pedalbox . I am using a standard master clutch cylinder with new seals fitted and no wear in bore. Clutch slave cylinder brand new from a mini with 7\8 in bore. I cannot get full stroke to disengage clutch with system fully bleed and using different lengths of push rod still only a third part of stroke still not able to change gear. When depressing clutch pedal actuating arm is moving slightly but not enough. Actuating arm can be moved via screwdriver to prove it will disengage. Brand new flexible hose fitted in system.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
PHILIP JONES

If you pump it up - does it move then? Is there any free-play in the pedal/master cylinder linkage?

Hi Guys,
It does not move if you pump it up and very little play in any on master cylinder linkage.
Spacers fitted to clutch slave cylinder to line up with clutch actuating arm.

I think mini slaves have quite a short throw

Having said that I used a midget one sucessfully with a modified 1098 clutch fork pushing a conventional roller release bearing (it was modded to push the roller bearing, not pivot lengths etc. This was on a "cast" type bellhousing for the type 9

I also found I have to remove the slave and bleed it hanging off the car to get all the air out.

It may also depend which Mini slave you have - the later 'Verto' Mini clutch has a very short lever and short throw...... The early pre-verto clutch cylinder is probably longer throw - to handle the long throw lever on that clutch....
