Greetings from a newbie van owner

Post by Van Man Lee »

Hello,

As a new MM owner I thought I'd introduce myself and my latest purchase.
I've always fancied a Minor (particularly a Traveller), so when this 6 cwt van popped up for sale locally to my parents I had to have it.
Here it is as I first saw it where it had been stored for several years.

With a new battery, some petrol and some air in the tyres it fired up and drove onto the trailer, but with no brakes it tried to drive straight over it and into the Skoda's boot!
The seller also gave it a quick bubble bath before I collected it.

I didn't realise until the V5c came back that it is actually an Austin, although (unless anyone can tell me differently) I don't think there's any difference apart from the badge.

Plans are to stash it away until my previous project (Humber Sceptre) has been sold and my current project (Ford Corsair) is finished, then I'll tidy the van up and run about in it while I decide on a full restoration or not.

Lee.

Great looking van, don't stash it away, get it back on the road asap. You have a great van with, what looks like, the much sought after later type van wheels. Well done with your purchase !

Thanks!
It will only be stashed for a month or two. I think it's a winter project. I want to be out and about in it next summer.

From the pictures it looks like you have found a decent van, the panels look as if they line up well, this is not always the case with Minors! Good luck with it. There is a site for the commercials (lcv register) but this site sees more action and caters for all minors.
