Does anyone know how to find out history on a moggie can it be done from a vin number

The chassis number (pre-dates VIN) from the plate on the bulkhead will get a production trace from BMIHT at Gaydon. Apply to the DVLA for a copy of all log book entries relevant to the car. The registration number can tell you where it was first registered. The production trace will give you the dealer and loads of other information. DVLA gices previous keepers - you might be able to contact some of them for any extra history.
