Mr Mankys 1st event!!MMOC at the Avon Valley railway,Bitton.

Post by Pilkie »

Mr Manky is getting ready for his 1st classic car event this weekend! :)
He hopes to be attending the MMOC Avon Branches rally at the Avon Valley Railway in Bitton near Bristol, that kicks off at about 10am this morning.
Normally, for my other cars,I would get the bucket, sponge, polish, and hoover out,and spend a day giving it the works!! Mr Manky has asked me to empty the garage bin of car rubbish over, and in him, pick off the bits that dont stick, and drive him there,as long as its not going to be wet,as that would wash off all his 26yrs of cobwebs, stuck on dust and grime.
If you are going to the event we look forward to seeing you!
You wont miss us!!

Mr Manky went to his 2nd show today, along with his 2 stablemates, and my nephews Mini.
He got a very good reception by the other classic car owners, and the public!
The result was 50/50!! Some saying you must restore it,others, leave it as it is,its BRILL!
No awards for dog of the day, apart from the 4 legged variety, but the TR6 was lucky enough to win best car in the post 1962 class,a prize it won back in 2009 as well.
He did get a short sharp shower dumped on him,but fortunately it didnt wash off much of the well stuck on grot![frame]Image[/frame]

Hi,
You seem to be getting more attached to him, does this mean he's had a reprieve, as I seem to recall you saying in one of your posts that you were going to sell him.....
Best wishes,
Mike.

1970 Triumph Herald 1200: "Hetty" -- Driven back from Llangollen in Wales (twice.....)
1952 Morris Minor MM highlight with sidevalve engine still fitted, wants work, so joins the queue for now......

I'd vote for leave it as it is, there are plenty of better than new Minors already.

I have to talk to the 2 parties interested in buying him to restore, with all the spares, but if they dont buy him, then I will have to decide which way to go!
Given I have already invested a good few £££'s and bought him a complete excellent dark blue interior,2 rust free doors,2 complete made up new old stock excellent wood side frames, then unless I resell those parts,he will be restored over the winter/spring,ready for next show season,or be sold once done!

Do you mean the TR Register,Triumph Dolomite Club?
I did have a Dolly Sprint and a 1500tc also a rare Sprint based Latham SuperSports kit for a while.
Dont know what will come along next,I may still restore Mr Manky if he doesnt sell!!
I do have a Triumph TR5 1 owner in the pipeline, but that has been an ongoing saga for the last 25yrs since the chap died and his wife, "78 and No kids" cant make up her mind to let it go before she pops off!.
And ive offered to pay for a round the world air ticket while she is still able to travel,so she can see freinds and cousins etc in Canada,USA,NZ and OZ.
It would be nice if she could see it finished before she passes,as it will bring back some great memories for her!
All I do know for sure is,that one day it will be mine!

Its probably worth more if you break it and put it on the XJS forum,as its TWR parts are rare!
