The Stanton Cropduster

I spent the last couple of weeks in the South Island (New Zealand) working on the BMW Alpine xDrive snow driver training event. Due to unusually warm conditions, our training facility (Southern Hemisphere Prooving Grounds - SHPG - worth Googling!) was not usable for a number of days. As a back up plan, we had the use of the newly completed Highlands Motorsport Park in Cromwell (also worth Googling). This is a privately owned and funded race track that was built in less than 12 months and is now fully finished complete with a superb motorsport Museum. While inspecting the cars on display I had a closer look at a very famous old NZ race car - The Stanton Special. This has a Tiger Moth engine combined with a Morris Minor front suspension set up - and was originally using Morris Minor front drum brakes! (since upgraded - but still drums).
