Some types of gun are suitable for oil, but will still leak out if left in them afterwoods see if someone local has one you can borrow for a few minutes.

Maybe not too smart or clever but I use a different smaller gun with a flexible hose and only used for this purpose. I had problems with the gun's original rigid pipe. I had trouble with a full size gun as well. I find the oil goes through the nipple easier if the gun is held upside down above the level of the nipple, this is possible using the flexible piece. Try also "bleeding" the air from the gun, prior to injecting, with it upside down if you can't use a flexible.
Yes EP90 is correct.
I have a spare side lever gun which I use exclusively for EP9oil in the steering rack. It works fine but,yes it does leak oil when stored away
afterwards. Don't forget that it helps to put a thin piece of cotton
material over the nipple before applying the gun, it helps to seal it.
