My alloy bases are very pitted. Has anyone tried to refurbish these in any way and if so with what success?

You can sand and fill them, and then paint them body-colour, silver, or even try 'chrome paint'.

If you're likely to replace them otherwise, it's worth playing about with them to see if you can get away without buying replacements!
