Ignition switch disassembly

How do you remove the tumblers (barrel) from an ignition switch, when you don't have the key?

I am upgrading my '58 Traveller (NZ import to US) to use a starter solenoid instead of the pull cable.

I have the parts, but the switch I am going to use does not have a key.

I purchased a new barrel/key for it, but I am a little stumped on removing the old barrel.

Maybe I need to go to my local prison and find someone to pick it for me?

Thanks for all help.

If you look on the barrel it may have the number to get another one cut. Mine uses a union key with a number, i got one cut using that number.

Hi

I have also changed my switch and barrel, are yours similar to those below
If Yes then to remove the barrel from lock you need to push the pin on end of barrel on far left of barrel in picture, push down through the hole in the switch. You should then be able to remove the barrel, you may need to use a srewdriver or similar in key slot to remove.

Hope this makes sence
