Anyone know "831 AJO"

Post by qwerty165 »

I have recently purchased this car and was wondering if anyone knows anything about it; as it has a Morris Minors Owners Club badge.

I have found these pictures of the car on a google search and thought I would put them here to see if anyone recognises the car as it was around 2009 when the pictures were taken.

It has an owners club badge which is good.
Not sure what the clubs position is on revealing previous owners details though.
I expect they would forward a letter and let the previous owner decide rather than just tell you.

Thanks for that. I was more looking for a history of the car as it came to me with very little, rather than the details on previous owners. Though it may be an idea to see what the club is able to produce.

I'm no expert but in Jon Pressnell's book, Morris Minor the official photo album, there are a number of original photos of 948cc cars all with 'AJO' Number plates such as 927 AJO, a dark green Traveller, 431 AJO a cream 4 door, 774 AJO a OEW Convertible, 279 AJO a 4 door and another convertible with most of the numberplate obscured, but you can just make out 'FJO'. Now it might just be a coincidence, but maybe your car was one of these cars when new???

"JO" is the registration issued for the Oxford area. i.e. Cowley area. My last modern came from Oxford and ended "DJO" if that's any help.

The prototype 1000 convertible from 1956 had an AJO reg, it now belongs to a club member. What is your chassis number? It is likely to be a very early 1000.
1934 Morris 10/4 in Dark Green / Black - BGO517
1953 S11 Traveller in Birch Grey - oldest survivor ? Export model now reg PPO924

Well I doubt it is very early within 1956 as it was first registered on the 28.12.1956 and chassis number is 463442 and looking at the chasis numbers from the production data I have found it does seem to be a later 1956 1000.
