Is their a way to remove the the push rod on a master cylinder and change out the seals without removing the entire master cylinder? Mine is leaking from the front of the master. I had the car sand blasted and I think some sand got in. (I've cut off the front rubber boot which was full of sand and brake fluid).

If sand has got into the cylinder then the bore will be damaged and now scrap,new master unfortunately.I would never use just new seals anyway,Never had much joy with them, mine have usually failed again in quick time' safer to fit a new master.for me anyway.

I'd tend to agree with Kennet.
Even if you want to replace the seals, given the circumstances trying to do it in situ is really asking for trouble.
You just need to lever the torsion bar down to get the M/C bolts out, not the way the manual suggests.

I've now ordered one from ESM who get me parts within three or four days. But it's expensive having a Moggy in the colonies - 36 Pounds just for shipping!

George, have you ever dealt w/the fellow in Oregon who sells parts?

Just looked it up, it's called" British Auto Parts".

If the sand managed to get into the master cylinder it will have got into the clutch and brake pedal pivots and they need to be stripped out and cleaned/lubricated and refitted.

Agreed, think it was a mistake leaving parts on the vehicle if shot blasting, as can be seen it bounces off everywhere!

I've looked at British Auto Parts. Their web site doesn't list prices and the one time I asked about a price they were out of stock.

Agreed about removing the pedals. Live and learn.
