Metal windscreen finisher

I need to replace my windscreen seal on my 1958 traveller,the original has the metal finisher on it.I have heard that it is very difficult to replace the metal finisher into the rubber.Are there any special tools available to enable the finisher to be fitted into the new rubber,or do I have to get a windscreen rubber that takes the plastic finisher? Help please !!
