Hello Folks, can anyone give me any dimentional details of the the metal pipe that is used to connect the bottom hose outlet and the water pump on the 918 engine with water pump?
What I currently have on my newly acquired '51 MM is this[frame]Image[/frame]
ESM have suggested buying the correct bottom hose for "water pump" and then also buying the bottom hose for "no water pump" and then cutting that up.
If I knew what diameter the metal section is, then maybe I could get something from a plumber's merchants and make up something that looks nearer the original.
Unless, of course, anyone knows a source of the correct pipes?
Thanks, George.

I bought the bottom "adaptor" hose from esm then used an old 1098 hose with the bypass blanked off to join it to the pump. You need a small legnth of metal pipe to join from the rad. bottom hose to the 1098 pipe and it works ok. you can't see the bypass hose as it is behind the dynamo :D Some pics on restorations a few months ago.March 29 2013. Brian and Mike, thanks for the pictures. Trying to adjust for the angles and the measuring tape, looks like the pipe may be about 22mm diameter. If I can't get brass, would copper pass muster (would also be easier to bend with a pipe bender)?
George.

Have plenty of the correct bottom hoses to go with the brass/copper pipe in the MMOC stocks. If you can find someone to make a batch of the pipes we could consider financing it through the club. If not I have used Series11 bottom hoses with a small right angled piece of metal piping in the past.
