Genuine Lucas parts

Post by Leyland »

Hi Friends
When it comes to replacement ignition parts there seems to be a lot of junk and wrong parts out there.

I am trying to obtain some genuine Lucas rotor arms, contact sets, condensers and LA12 or HA12 coils.
Does anyone know of a good |Lucas spares supplier in the Staffordshire or West Midlands area. Of course if I buy via mail order then location doesn't matter.
I rang the Lucas helpline!!! They weren't at all helpful because I was not a distributor for them.
Can anyone help please.
regards
Ty

Yes Grainger is right I would hope that the duff batches that were around should have been eliminated from the bigger Minor spares suppliers stocks some time ago.
Cheers

Thing is, Lucas don't actually *make* a lot of the "Lucas" parts anymore. I ordered a Lucas Reg-Rec unit for my bike and got a "CarSpares" branded one come from the Lucas Depot (and they charged me extra for the privilage (of them ordering from some other supplier for me)). I don't know if Lucas still make the rotor arms, contacts, etc, but I would suspect not.

I'm told that the 'Lucas' Coils are now made in China, I do know that I had two fail in very short order (i.e. still under warranty kind of short order) on my car; I've now got a Bosch coil (yeah, yeah, I know, I should buy British).

There are local lucas parts places.... I just rang Lucas and asked....
