Timing marks on crankshaft pulley

I am trying to find the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley.
The pulley fitted to our 1971 Traveller looks to be far heftier item than the item shown in the Haynes manual and does not appear to have a notch on the outer edges at all. Am I looking in the right area?
Thanks

you have the marina dampened type then
why do you need the timing mark

You beat me to it Dennis!

Timing marks have no relevance - check the vacuum advance is working, then adjust for best idle - then check it's not pinking.

Well she is a bit lumpy on tick over and trying to smoth out the hunting she is experiencing.
Having thr Marina pulley is thus unusual?
What is the best way too improve the tick over?
Thanks cahps for the feedback so far.

In a similar situation I made a degree disc with the tdc 5 degree and 10 degree marks on it and fitted it over the pulley nut whilst timing, bit of a fiddle but if you get the piston at tdc on the right stroke it gives a starting point.

As above - but try advance and retard while idling to see if it improves - then test for pinking. 'Not quite' pinking is the ideal running setting for your engine - but if that doesn't also give a smooth idle - you either have to adjust the mechanical advance - or live with the compromise. But first - you MUST check the vacuum advance is working. Do you have a Marina engine?? Ref above ^^ - that's all very well - but we have no idea what setting to use - so marks are irrelevant.

What colour are the plugs?
Hunting is usually caused by over rich mixture.

I would suggest that you need at least a No 1 & 4 cylinder TDC mark on the pulley to give you a datum point.
Just needs dab of white paint on the pulley and timing cover (aligned with each other) when TDC is determined.
I agree the timing should be adjusted as recommended in the above posts as no two engines are the same even if they are built to the same specification/components and as Bmc has quite rightly pointed on several occasions the specification of todays petrol is different from the specification of the petrol used when the Minor was new so the original settings are mostly irrelevant but can be used as a start point.[frame]

Mission accomplished and Traveller now happier with adjustments to timing so thank you chaps
for the help.

Just make sure it's NOT pinking under load - ie full throttle up a hill in top gear.
