Bonnet Rust - advice needed please

My traveller has a patch of rust on the bonnet, please see photo...

I'm not able to tackle this myself but want it sorted, any ideas as to how much this would cost to be repaired and I assume it would be best for the entire bonnet to have a respray?

Also, any recommendations for the Leicestershire area to do the job?

Thanks, Matt![frame]Image[/frame]

Yes, on such a prominent part of the car the whole bonnet should ideally be re-sprayed or the repairs will show. The rust should be wire brushed/ sanded and preferably spot blasted to bare clean metal on that patch to avoid recurrence. As for who to do the job, first port of call is ask your local branch!

That's been going on for quite some time! The metal may be very thin now..... Frankly I would pick up a better bonnet - spray it and swop over.........

Thanks for the replies. I've only had the car for a couple of months and it needs a very small amount of tidying, this rust on the bonnet being the worst area, also needs some work to the near side waist rail.

I think I will keep an eye out for a replacement bonnet and the rear wings can be tidied at the same time.

Lou I have emailed John Hales as I'm interested in attending a monthly Leicestershire meet... I think we met years ago when I lived in Coventry and came to one of your meetings?

I'll update the thread with how I get on..

I think if you rub that hard enough to get back to 'clean' metal it will go into holes.... Could make it a cold air inlet for the carb ... https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=naca+ ... 66&bih=625
