External sunvisor for split screen

Post by 54woody »

I've been thinking about putting an external sunvisor on my splitscreen traveller. The new units I see for sale as well as the ones that come up on ebay, etc don't appear to be the right shape to fit the V shaped roof line of the split screen cars. Are there sunvisors made specifically for the split screen cars or can a standard sunvisor be adapted to fit?

You can get metal sunvisors specifically for split screens but they don't come up for sale very often so tend to go for a high price.

Try contacting Bull Motif. They have a contact who makes them in fibreglass he may have a mould for splitscreens.

Please let us know if you find a source for the split screen sunvisor, I'm sure that it would generate a lot of interest. :D

It's the same pressing as the 1000 sunvisors, but obviously cut out differently around the back edge to suit the split screen. You could modify a Minor 1000 one, if I recall correctly you need to add some metal on as well as trim some out to make it the right shape along the back edge. Or be lucky and find an original one, or order a repro one. Three posibilities. Four if you inc fibreglass, though not sure if the split screen shap is available in GRP or not.
