If you haven't already done so, best to ring round first to check if they've actually got engines in stock - when I was looking for one a while back none of the main suppliers had any so don't just assume that they have some available. If they are in stock, compare the warranty details and don't forget to factor in the delivery costs as these might vary quite a bit, especially as you are in the Highlands.

Contact jefftav to ask him if he knows of any in around Inverness. If forced to buy - I would go for a half engine from Bully.

Over the years we've had a re-conditioned engine from Bull Motif, and 1 from B'ham Minor Centre. Still going strong (fingers crossed

) We collected as we live near their old premises.

Most of the suppliers contract out their engine rebuilds to companies such as KAR Engines in Barnstaple or Quasar in Manchester so you may get a better price from them

Mike do you mean Quasar engineering in Stockport ?? . I don't understand why people pay stupid money to these dealers when you can do most things yourself easily . The block and crank could be farmed even a head skim if needed and everything else is simple just like a large Meccano or Airfix

.I wouldn't buy from any of the dealers the price they charge why not go for a retied local engineer or maybe an out of work engineer as there are loads about if you ask or maybe someone local on the Forum or mmoc local branch .

Birmingham morris minor centre charge a £500! surcharge until they get the engine you gave them in exchange checked over its suitable for reconditioning....

We actually took in our old engine to B'ham and they reconditioned that, there was a deposit but not that much, but then the B'ham Minor Centre is now run by David Manners Group so things may have changed.

Try;
http://www.autoheadrecon.com/index.asp
or
http://www.precisionengineservices.co.uk/
They will refurbish your existing engine and may be more cost effective than having an engine shipped from Englandshire.
