Well, it all adds variety to the Morris Minor world. The first red one looks a bit odd proportion wise and the tea tray hubcaps don't help! Second one just looks a practical rebuild to similar dimensions as orig, presumably rear body fell apart and was either difficult or too expensive to recreate/rebuild so thats fair enough. Third one was presumably built to carry something that length so again with a real purpose. I've no objections to home built pickups (odd considering what I do!) it keeps 'em on the road and conceivably, though unlikely, could have been done like that from new.

Having said all that, I'd better admit that I did used to run a wooden bodied pickup with dropsides. IT was very cheap to buy as not original and I kept it for a few years running on a strict zero budget using cast offs from other cars... (Only the brakes got new components, I should add). It was great fun and ideal for parts fetching etc as you could throw an engine in the back for eg, with no concern about denting the original body. I repainted it with very cheap paint - a 'bad mix' from the local auto paint suppliers and it looked quite tidy (similar to BMC turquoise of 1957 to60 era). Yes, it got sneered at by the purists a bit - it was the only home bodied Minor pickup at the LCV 50th rally as far as I recall, and I only sold it after 'Gaffa' the van with side windows arrived - another little regarded 'body style' .[frame]Image[/frame]

Oddball and thoroughly revolting. :(

I find custom bodies interesting but if only a little thought was given to the aesthetics! For example, the sheep-trailer one and Iain's are quite well executed; everthing is in proportion and there is a clear purpose in mind.

Aesthetics don't come into it, Minors weren't built to go in an art gallery but for a purpose.
Pick-ups especially, they are tools.
I bet hay bales fit perfectly on the flat one, then it makes sense.

Looking at the flatbed one... im not sure its legal. It looks like the overhang is in excess of 2/3rds of the wheelbase

I'm pretty sure the max allowed legally is 60% not 66% of wheelbase.
