What exhaust to fit a 1275 A+

Hi all

I am nearing the end of the restoration of my 67 2 door and have reached the point of running the engine.

I have a 1275 A+ with an HS6 carb and a standard minor stainless exhaust( the one with only one muffler in the front section) and a standard manifold. Its a bit loud to say the least.

The question is which way to go. I assume the large bore system is aimed at the 1275 motor. Are there any differences from the recognised suppliers i.e. are some of them single mufflers whilst some of them are twin mufflers? I assume the lcb manifold and a 2 part system is the way but I have nothing to base it on as the only other 1275 minor I have contact with has a bespoke built exhaust.

All large bore systems available have an extra silencer/muffler at the rear.

If you want the best, go for Maniflow's large bore system. It seems to get the most praise.

You'll find it much quieter with the large bore system. The extra silencer at the back seems to make a helluva difference! At low rpm you can waft along, and then it'll be noisy when you get a bit more enthusiastic, perfect!

Best to get a large bore exhaust manifold too - ex Marina. This has a larger (single) opening to fit the larger bore exhaust system. There are also twin exit manifolds (later Mini) - but matching up to an exhaust is not so easy and the difference will be tiny.

I adjusted the dizzy timing and adjusted the rebuilt carb today, between that and the new exhaust starting to carbon in it has helped alot. Its still loud but I dont think its much louder than my race engined Mini.

Is the maniflow large bore system stainless? incase I decide to go that way
