Hi All, once this awful weather passes I am going to strip all the old and flaky underseal off, a couple of coats of red oxide and then a couple of coats of chassis matt black. Is Chassis black paint ok left as a topcoat without further protection, or would any of you recommend a top coat of something on top of the chassis black? my car is a daily driver through winter and summer months
Thanks folks

Chassis black is fine as long as you get the real/thick/sticky paint. But why 'red -oxide' what good do you think that will do?? Be sure to treat any rusty parts with phosphoric acid before applying anything on top..... Good luck - it's a terrible job - and unfortunately often reveals a few 'nasties'...... Do small areas at a time is my tip.......

Thanks but it wont reveal any nasties as I have just spent 3,000 on the whole thing to get it completely rust free.

There shouldn't be any nasties then!
Chassis black on the outside and Waxoyl in the inside should keep it all nasties free.

I can't guess what has been done to your car - let's hope it is indeed free of nasties for many a year to come......

" the weather protection stage " - top tip - keep it in a warm/dry garage, and NEVER take it out when there is a chance of rain.....

£3000 a weeks work? Where do you get your minor done - a BMW dealership?
Assuming a 40 hour week... thats £75/hr. Most of the bodyshops I know charge £25-£40/hr (and yes I do know a few!)
