As per title - does anyone have, or can anyone point me at, the bearing numbers for standard (late) front wheel bearings please?

Cheers,
Phil.

Have you searched the forum? This comes up time and time again. Should probably may made a sticky if Mods are listening...?

Have you tried the search facility??
Yes I did, got lots of hits on taper , Marina, sloppy fit etc etc.
STD bearing numbers would be nice.
A sticky would be great!

Let me elaborate - I'm going to be going to a local bearing supplier, NOT any of the usual suppiers of 'classic morris minor parts'.... <5000 miles on a new set of bearings before they go rough is not good.

Well - against my better judgement I searched for you and appears to be 7303 and 7205 - it really didn't take long..... Be SURE to get good quality bearing to C1 fit - and certainly NOT cheap /nasty C3 fit which some suppliers seem to provide......
Edit - corrected to change 7305  to the correct number 7303.

Thanks - much appreciated.
After some googling I also came up with :
Outer 3MJT17
Inner 34LJT25

and

Outer 7205
Inner 7303BEP

Now the hunt is on. Updates later!

Right mystery solved.

STD Front bearings:

OUTER (25 x 52 x 15) 7205 or 3MJT17
INNER (17 x 47 x 14) 7303 or 34LJT25

or taper:

OUTER 30303
INNER 30205

Rear seal is 1.375 x 2.125 x 0.375

All available from Bearing Services, Avonmouth or simplybearings.co.uk

Rear seal is 1.375 x 2.125 x 0.375
Is this refering to the rear axle bearing seal? Or the FRONT inner wheel bearing seal?

So the ref I found with 7305 is not correct - you are sure about the 7303 ?

7305 and 7205 are both 25mm bore..... twigged this was not right from looking at existing!
Spent a glorious hour on simplybearings, RS (yes - RadioSpares!) and WychBearings typing in bearing numbers, comparing specs and writing down sizes.

Have ordered SKF taper rollers from Wych.

Rear seal on the front
Now you really have me confused, I thought a rear seal is at the rear and a front seal is at the front.

Both the taper roller bearings are wider than their angular contact ball bearing equivalent. The inner bearing is 16.25mm wide vs 15mm and the outer is 15.25mm vs 14mm. Apart from the obvious that the spacer between the bearings is not used, the thicker inner bearing will push the whole hub/drum assembly away from the backplate by 1.25mm - with new(ish) drums OK, but with worn ones??

Has anyone fitted these size taper rollers and what was the result? Does the split pin still fit the castle nut, or do you have to use a thinner washer behind it?

I'd have thought that the topic title may have given the game away :-)
There is no front seal on the front, just to confirm, as it doesn't need one - although you could argue that the grease cap fulfils that role.

Phil.

We're fine where we are, but some places in town are awfully close to flooding. The campground in town was evacuated because it's right beside the river.
