Best colour and trim set's for Travellers??

Post by Pilkie »

Hi all.

As I will be painting and trimming my Traveller in a different colour combination,I just wanted to find out what is the rarest body colour and trim set for the Traveller?
And, your opinions on what combination works the best,or is the most desireable?

Any in and out pics you have, bung them up for us to see!

My current preference is either Trafalgar blue or an electric blue,"Ford/Jag",with grey or red trim, poss 2 tone, with grey carpet, and chrome wheel trims.
Apart from paint and trim,I intend to keep the rest original.

Cheers Dave

The best colour combination is the one you like the most! If you intend to keep the car do it in the colours you like the best. If you intend to maximise its resale value go for the most popular standard factory combination correct for the year...

The rarest ones will be rare because people didn't like them!
The best will depend on personal taste, yours as the owner.

Hi Pilkie

Have you seen a Trav done in Limeflower? I think they came with Autumn upholstery. I think opinions are very divided on this combination. I was shocked when I first saw one, but it has grown on me. I particularly like the Autumn interior.

Also have you seen one done in Bedouin? Some might think it a bit dreary, but it appeals to me. But then I am Australian

Another one that I like is the bronze green that some armed forces Travs were painted in. Nice.

Cheers
Don

Well I love Rose Taupe with a Cherokee red interior (well I would wouldn't I) The colour changes in different lights and is very "of the period". :D The one change I have made - I have a reddish brown coloured carpet throughout including boot area as the original maroon carpet just didn't do it for me.

My favourite would be OEW with Red interior, but I have aways liked a lot of the late colours, limeflower etc, but Bermuda Blue (Police blue) is probably my favourite of the late colours.

I like Empire green, but it was discontinued in 1956! I am biased as it is the colour of mine, but looks very good with the ash!
My 1956 Series 11 Traveller! Bought when I was 17 (1985)....sold 6 years (1991) later......bought back 9 years after that! (2000) With 6 different owners in the middle, what a lucky boy I am!

I had a late traveller that was glacier white with navy seats, quite a rare one as the bright white almost looks too modern. My favourite colour though is maroon B, it really suits a traveller. The second car I restored I painted maroon B, it was an Irish assembled car and had came with autumn leaf seats and I thought it really looked the biz! I sold it in about 1997 and still see it at some shows.
