It's a 1300 from a Marina (I think). What grade and quantity should I add?
Also, my dipstick fits very loosly in it's hole.. is this normal?

Thanks, mates!

20W50 from Wilko or Morrisons etc is perfectly good for a marina engine. Just don't expect it to last for ever. You'll need the full 4.5 lire can. The dipstick should not be loose - oil will blow out. There should be a plastic sleeve with a tapered entry for it.

Oil and filter change every 3,000 miles. The dipstick should slide in and out without hindrance. As long as it stays put, covers the hole and is the correct one marked with the correct levels all should be fine.

And how did you get hold of a Marina engine over there? From an Austin Marina or was the car exported?

Alex-- good one! Definitely should have re-read that post!!!
Car was imported over here in 07..Just now having a go at restoring the old boy. Limited time and budget make it slow going, though.
My oil filter is on top of the block facing down. Hoping it doesn't make a big mess getting it off. Guess I'll drain the oil first..(Duh)

Sorry - didn't notice USA location  So yes - any basic 20W50 oil will be fine - 4 quarts in your terms !
