While my welder gets on with the large work I enjoy painting up the fiddly bits to go back on the car , can I have some ideas of if the following types of present day paints are going to be ok.

Firstly reading a van BMC manual , I was interested to find that the standard colours for the LCV were half hour synthectic paints - I presume enamel ( Belco or similar at a guess ) , rather than what I would have thought was cellulose. My BMC saloon manual is inaccessable at present , were the saloons finished originally in half hour synthetics ?

Back to black bits though ( engine mounts , air filter housings, started and wiper motor casings , front seat metal clips and rests ) , I have been given some black plasti-kote spray , which I have tried on scrap metal and I have not been impressed with it - maybe I was spraying too cold earlier in the year ) , so is Acrylic over present day red-'oxide' primer ok , or would my more trusted Humbrol enamels , brush painted over halfords grey primer be better (I am looking for a 20 year life with the odd bit of cleaning off with mr muscle on that paint work every year or so).
