boxing plate

hi all
new poster here, just started working on my moggie which I have had in a lock up for 19 years. what I need to know is does the boxing plate need to be welded to the cills as as cills fitted were made up and boxing plate rotted,

Hi Geoff, welcome to the fourm, If it is any help here is a cross section of how the sills fit together.

From memory the boxing plate is spot welded across the top and a run of weld every couple of inches at the bottom. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. :D

cheers rich, my car has had replacement floor panel and is welded to inner cill so will not be sandwiched between cills.
