I have a pretty good lucas 43D4 dizzy which does not have a vacuum unit, however it does have a removable blanking plate where one should fit. If I purchase a vacuum unit which are fairly cheap will it convert my 43D to 45D that I can use on my 1275 midget engine.[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

Good question! Try it and see........ :D Is there a place inside to connect the vacuum rod to - I rather doubt it..? It probably needs a complete 45D baseplate assembly..... Maybe just buy a new 45D from simonbbc/accuspark??

BMC is right, fixed base plate on the 43, common outer casing, different internals. Another part from the shed heading to the bay of e's.

The answer is no I'm afraid. I stripped down my running dizzy and my spare today, and found that the one without the vac unit has a fixed base plate. You can't re locate the vac pin so that it will move either, as it was fitted before the bush was crimped over in the factory. So you will need a vac unit and the relevent base plate to convert. Sorry.

Thanx for the reply and work done on your dizzy, I did the same and came to the same conclusion. Will be cheaper I think to sell the 43 and purchase a used 45.
